What kind milage can I expect out of my stock transmission ? I change the fluid when its time. I had the front pump seal replaced at 117,000 and had them replace the stock TC with another stock TC. I don't tow but I have a truck camper. That put's my GW around 11,500#.
Sometimes when I need to get out into traffic fast and I punch it, it can't decide what gear it wants and it will shift three times real fast bang, bang, bang. Thats with the camper on. If I do that with the camper off all I do is smoke the tire's /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggrin.gif.
I had the dealer do a reflash about five year's ago. That changed the computer to NVK5. It was hunting and they said they had a TSB and did the reflash.
We do a lot of traveling and I don't want to get stranded. I'm thinking about a BTS or monster box. Kinda leaning towards the BTS because of all the good things I see on here. Also we go to Texas a lot and BTS is on our way. We can camp out in Brians parking lot /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif. I don't have guages yet so that would be a good time to get them if Brian has them?

I put 203,000 miles before mine started acting up. I don't think it was all that bad it still shifted fine but the T/C was not staying locked up while I was pulling my Trailer. I wnet ahead and got a BTS.

If you are changing the fluid regular it should last 300,000 miles. I didn't change mine until 145,000 miles or so.

He doesn't actually "give" them to you. He charges you about $1,300 for the Precision Industries Stallion PSD torque converter. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/warmsmile.gif It's included in the $3,750 or more total price of an installed out-the-door BTS tranny.

But you're worth it. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif

Mine lasted 25k and I went through 3 stock units and that was with mild power additions but. I have the ATS system now and it surpassed my expectations I could have got it for about the same price as BTS but I added billet shafts and the commander I guess the question that you really wanted answered was how long will the stock tranny last and I can tell you that mine was fine til I started adding power to it hope this helps.

The 99 was chipped at 55K and driven hard until 83K when the tranny failed. No chip and 195K miles and counting on the $2,000 Ford rebuilt tranny. At 123K miles the torque convertor was replaced due to owner operator failure!

The truck still tows up to 16K lbs on a monthly basis (bumper pulled dump trailer).

The 00 X has 145K miles on the original tranny.
