Should a stock turbo be able to clear up stage ones? It blows smoke when I first get in it but clears around 15 psi boost. is this Normal?

That is about what my 96 does. The tip in is where it smokes, both on 80E and 60tow, worse on tow. If you lay into it easy until 5 lbs boost then hit it very little smoke. The 1.0 housing on the turbo actually made the performance better but the smoke worse. I have talked with Jody on this and he can tune this out, just haven't had time to pull chip and have him do it. Maybe an F6 would let me do it by e-mail, hmmmmnnn.

you get the good with the bad....more fuel on the bottom and it will smoke until you build boost to clear it...you have a TW chip, were the original programs before or after the injectors? he can clean it up for ya
if you tell him what you want.

FWIW, when I was running stg1's and stock turbo, mine smoked some on the bottom as well, with 3.55s and 35's, until I got on top of the turbo, then it cleaned up quite a bit, some programming changes and shift strategy helped clear that....(shift changes are up to you)lol...didnt notice the manual....

I was just surprised the stock turbo cleared them up. I will wait until I get the 6.0 turbo installed and fine tuned before I send my chip back to Tony. I am hoping the VGT will clean up the bottom end.

At peak boost my stock turbo pretty much cleans up my Stage 2's. I'm hitting 40 psi at max boost.
Are you really putting a 6.0 Turbo on your OBS? That is a major undertaking, only a handful have done it.

Make sure you let us know how the vgt turbo works. I thout they sucked on my 6.0. Turbo lag was much worse than our trucks are but when 2krpm hit and the boost built hooold on. They might work better with the larger displacement and no egr to dirty up the vanes and make them stick.
