Hey gang, I got a strange one.
I ran my truck out of fuel yesterday. I was pulling a trailer (so using more fuel), and didn't realize that my gauge was not accurate (since I figured I had another 400 miles left with my stock and Transfer Flow tank). When it quit I had a chance to coast up an offramp, which is what I did, and sat there until I could get a couple of gallons of fuel.
I got going, and headed for the fuel station a few miles up the road. When I made the turn into the station, my power steering dropped off. I revved the engine and got it back enough to safely navigate. So after leaving the fuel station, I made sure to rev high to ensure steering. I also noticed at the same time that the brakes got soft, then hardened back up when revving.
I figured I was losing the power steering pump, since both brakes and power steering were having trouble, and there's plenty of fluid for the steering.
here's the odd part - the power steering came back. I went to drop off the trailer at my buddy's place and during the jostling to get the trailer into place..... the steering came back. I drove back home another 20 miles without any problems.
1 - any idea why this would happen? 2 - what are the odds of failure in the near future?
I dont really want to talk about the cooked smell from the clutch while moving the trailer :icon_mad: oh well, the truck IS 11 years old and on the stock clutch.
Any info is appreciated!
