Just after I bought my truck I put in 2 10" subs behind my rear seat and mounted the amp underneath. Anyways, they never sounded that great and after driving it for a year decided I had to do something to fix it.

So I got to checking and realized the subs were pressed up against the back of the rear seat so they couldn't bump and vibrate like they should.

So I unbolted the rear seat and drilled some holes in the mounting brackets 1" further forward. Made a night and day difference in the way the stereo sounds. Sure I lost an 1" of leg room but it sounds so much better. Just thought I tell you guys if anyone was wondering about getting subs behind the seat...

Sweet, I will keep that in mind. Although, the boxes and subs I'm getting have a stiff grille on them, so that even if they are pressed against the seat, they still have enough airspace to operate properly. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

i just bought 4 of the new pioneer ts-sw1041d 10" subs with the recessed magnet to put in my crewcab. i just did basically the same thing you did, but the tube between the seat and the mounting bracket, i turned it around and drilled a new hole for the rear bolt. was a quick easy job and gave me an extra 2" of space behind the seat. with the measurements behind the seat with stock location i would have had a box with 2.3 cu.ft. now with the extra 2" i can have a box with a total of 3.6 cu.ft. and most 10" subs from what i researched only need like 0.6-0.7 cu.ft.

I placed 2 12" subs under the back seat facing down because I couldn't lose the leg room by moving the seat forward. I had two custom boxes built in a pyramid shape with the top chopped off. I bought some 1 1/4" steel square tubeing and lifted the back seat. The amp is bolted down between the subs.

Just another idea if you can't loose the leg space.

I have a custom box with the new pioneer shallow ts-sw12 (Two) 12" subs.

I did not have to move the seat.
The subs do not touch the back of the seat.
I did not have to cut the back panel behind the box
I still have ny jack behind the seat
I installed my 4 channel Phonix gold amp above the jack.

I have JBl 6500 seperates in the front using the factory unit with Pre-amp converters.

The setup rock

PS: For those that need to move the seat, the trick is to flip the brackets from right to left and around. That should provide 1-1.5" of space behind the seat. But hey with my setup you never have to.

I have a 2004 Crew Cab and I'm not sure how to move the seat to make more room for a 2-10" sub box for behind the seat. The front mounting bolts are at a slight angle, so I can't just put a block in there to lift the seat(at least I don't think so). I have the flip-up sub-floor that can be removed, but I just don't know how to get more room for the box. If anyone with an '04 has moved up or forward the rear seat in a crew cab, or even knows how to, please post with the info and/or pics. I'm not worried about losing to much leg room, because the kids are 6 & 10 yrs of age. Please HELP!!

If you go with the Pioneer shallow mounts you do not have to move the seat forward! I would measure how much room you have and look at the subs specs to insure you make them fit. I know the later models space behind the seat shrunk about an inch or so.

With my setup I still have an extra 1" left, so I would think you could fit 2 10" shallows w/o a problem.

The 12" I used only required 0.6 cubic feet of space, so that was an easy fit on my late 99.

Another option is to look at the infinity Basslink box made to fit behind most seats.

if you guy's are having space problems, you may also use polyfill, in the enclosure, it allows you to use less cubic ft, for the requirement of the sub. so say your sub say's you need .6 cu ft if you only have, say .4 cu ft then add polyfill to the inside of the enclosure to "trick" the sub to think it has the .6 required. There is probably an exact equation for this, but most of my success has come from trial and error,......it is also good to use even if you have the space required, because it increases sound quality, and increases efficiency of the sub.

I put 2 12" shallow mount Pioneers in the back of my 05. Sound proofed the entire back wall and floor section under the box. Made a custom box out of 3/4" mdf, sealed, painted and sized at .9 cu ft per sub with matching Pioneer amp. I put the amp under the front center seat section. Looking to put matching amp and 4 way pioneer 6x8's in place of the stock speakers and keep the head unit.
Good enough for any diesel truck running down the road. My though is 99% of the people can NOT tell the difference once they are rolling down the road with the wind, diesel and road noise.

I am moving the back seat in my 06 F250 by way of custom fab brackets. The brackets move the seat forward 2 inches and up 1. The bracket is made from two pieces of flat steel that follow the contour of the floor. Both pieces have the same angle bent into them, and they are welded up in the above configuration. You'll have to find a welder that can do it or you can buy them. It's not a hard fab project if you can weld yourself and it'll give you plenty of room to build a box.

I have one 12" sub set up in a downfire configuration.

The box is like a center console for the rear seat passengers.

It is on the floor inbetween the front seat center console and the rear seat if that makes sense. Amp and cap are under the rear seat.

Firing at the floor my one sub is plenty loud enough.

i flipped the brackets and it was like being in the back of a cop car, no leg room, (especially since i keep my seat all the way back) so i put a piece of 2x2 alluminum sq tubing and some longer bolts on there and its even better than stock and i put the boxes under the seat

I just finished (except for a lot of listening and tweaking and "dialing in", etc.) my stereo install in my personal truck over the weekend. There are pictures HERE if anyone is interested. Keep in mind that the seat in the 2004+ trucks like mine is different from the earlier trucks.
