Well - After 255k miles my turbo is starting to make some noise and I figure ill head it off before it spits a bearing out or something. I pulled the inlet off tonight and I can see where the compressor wheel has eaten something.

No shaft play - No oil.

A local shop quoted $1200 to rebuild it - however I found a shop in Ohio that will rebuild mine for about $500 with a new compressor wheel. 12 Month/unlimited mile warranty.

My questions though ...

1.) The shop is offering the upgraded Banks compressor wheel - however at his (the shop) suggestion I have declined at this time. He said that on the '96 I am not going to notice much of a difference from stock.

2.) Can anyone recommend a place to have it rebuilt?

3.) My inlet tube that connects to the turbo - Is breaking apart - I have been looking on the net and I can't find a name for it?! Ford part?

Thanks guys!

BTW - For what its worth - I am going to be towing a 44' enclosed car hauler.

You wont notice that big of a differance with the banks compressor wheel on it. the best bet if ur just looking for a quick rebuild take the 500 buy. But if you want to upgrade you can go with the 94-97 Power Stroke BDP Dominator 66 Turbo. It Runs about 1200 and is very reliable from what i have found. This turbo has a limited 1 Year replacement warranty. Beans is nice to work with too but it all up to you.

Their is no difference between the stock wheel and a WW or banks wheel..those are just stock OBS wheels..

Rebuild it yourself..about $120 for the kit.

We also have the D66 but it would be a dog with stock inj's..wait till stage 2's..stock to stage 1's the stocker is great.
