I am replacing my 2002 Power Stroke and there is an option to choose 10k GVWR. What does this mean? Does this increase the GVWR or decrease it? There is no cost to this option and I cannot find any useful information to help me know what to choose!

The reason this option is offered is not to save you a few dollars on state fees. If your truck's GVWR is over 10,000 lbs. and it is used for commercial purposes (snow plowing, landscapers, etc...), then the driver is required to have a DOT medical card and the truck (and driver) will have to meet all the regulations of 49 CFR Regulations | FMCSA. Meeting these regulations can cost thousands annually. So, if you are going to use your truck as a family car and to tow the boat to the lake, it makes very little difference, but if you are using the truck for work, it is significant!
