What is a realistic life expectancy for some of the newer (2008 and up) Super Duty gas engines? After having owned a 7.3L with nearly 200K on it when I sold it and its still going six years later, I'm sold on diesel reliability and longevity, but how long does say, a 5.4L V8 last? I've seen more than a few nice gas Super Dutys that would fit my needs just fine, but they all have just over 100K on them. I really can't shake the idea that a gas V8 is done after 100K miles, but then again, most of my experience with gas V8s is with small block Chevys. On the other hand, I'm not going to put a lot of miles or really hard use on this truck-its primarily going to be a weekend vehicle.

You should be able to get 200,000 miles plus out of the 5.4 gas motor. It will be much cheaper to rebuild at that point.
