The term svo has been popping up quite frequently. What does svo stand for?

svo does indeed mean straight veg oil
wvo means waste (recycled) veg oil

they dont actualy need to be veg of course, rendered lard works just fine, and tends to be classed in the same category

there is a good glosary of terms on the alt fuels site

Yes, it can be done. I'm not sure how the IP on the 6.9 likes it, but in general, IDI engines are the best ones to run on svo/wvo. Right now I'm working on converting a DT466 with some of my classmates, and we have done lots to heat the fuel. We have a heated pickup in the tank, a heated filter (we're using stuff from www.plantdrive.com), a heat exchanger, and 2 inline heating elements in the fuel lines. That said, we're setting up a rather large parallel fuel system with a 120 gallon tank, so you won't need quite as much.

How familiar are you with the overall operation of these systems?

l am quite familiar, with with the theory, and opperation of two tank svo

my question are as follows:
l read some where (journey to forever.com l think)
that lucas/cav IP's arnt good for two tank svo
and if l remember corevtly that is the sort of pump on the 6.9
(please corect me if l am wrong)

about heating:
the truck already has two tanks, and a fuel line switch
so l am hoping to use the existing infrastructure
-making the front tank the oil tank (heated)
and the rear the start-tank (diesel)

the fuel lines are steel joined with flair fittings
and attached along the frame rail

what l am wondering is:
HOW To HEAT them?

hose whithin a hose dosent seem possible
what other options are there?
(l would prefer passive heating using the cooling system, rather than electric heating elements)

thanks

You will have a tough time heating you VO if you maintain the stock fuel flow. If you maintain the stock path, I suggest two separate heat exchangers. One from the 6 way valve to the WFS and one from the WFS to the pump. Just remove all the current lines in that path. You'll be able to hook up to the plastic line at the valve without too much difficulty. The fuel lines in and out of the WFS are basic rubber lines. Just remove all the metal stuff and fashion the HIH to take their places.

BTW, I finally got around to posting my conversion notes in the Alt Fuel forum.

Can't believe this hasn't gotten punted over there yet anyhow,

I have been running highly filtered (5 micron) WVO cut 30% with diesel for about 2K miles. No heating required when it is above 50 deg F. No problems so far, but I would think it would be a little thick straight up, especially for the stocl lift pump.
