havnt had a chance to look yet but i have the wonderful smell of antifreeze this am on my 2000 ex....any one tell me where to start looking when i pop the hood??
if you can smell it inside .... you may have a heater core leak.
if you can't see any leaks ... check the 2 lines that run from the firewall ... 1 hooks to the side of the motor on the pass. side, and 1 hooks to the top of the waterpump right below the hpop cover. if it leaking at one of these it could be blowing back onto the turbo or exhaust and you smell it burning.
i'm just taking shots in the dark .... hope it helps you out though
looks like hoses are all ok.....some drips on lower radiator hose looks like it mite be coming from behind pump pulley do the bearings go bad on the front of the water pump and take out the seal?? and if it is the pump how big a deal is it to change...thanx for all your help guys
Had the same kinda thing as you the first time it was dripping and you could visibly see it and it was the water pump, second time around I was getting the smell but did not see anything. Was at the dealer for something else and they told me it was the thermostat housing and thermostat. Replaced both and sure enough the gasket on the thermo was shot.

If you saw coolant where you said you did then you found the problem. The water pump needs to be changed. The weep hole on the pump is on the underside of the pump just behind the pulley.
I dont think anyone on here will say it would be ok for the 300mi trip.
I think most of the time they will seep for quite a while ,, never heard of one going till complete failure.
Thats your call/gamble to make. Just in case I would carry a few gallons of A/F & distilled water and a funnel.
Good Luck!
