I use Mobil 1 synthetic ATF. I'm a bit wary of AMSOIL, they don't certify that they meet any fluid specs. They just say that they do. Maybe they are right, but nobody is checking.

X-2 for the Mobil 1 for me, that's what Brian at BTS reccomended when I purchased a new trans from him.

Synthetic ATF will live under higher heat conditions than dino ATF. If you never see over about 210º tranny temp, then you don't need synthetic. But if you ever see over about 225º, then I'd be certain to go with synthetic ATF. I've never seen over 205º on my 4R100 tranny, but I've used Mobil 1 synthetic ATF and changed it every 30,000 miles since my first ATF change at 20,000 miles - not counting the 30,000 miles after my BTS was installed, when Brian filled it with a semi-synthetic Schaeffer's ATF. About 177,000 miles now, so that's 20k with factory-fill dino, 30k with Schaeffer's semi-synthetic, and 127k with Mobil 1 full synthetic.

For me, the question is less which synthetic vs synthetic vs. dino oil. As a former Amsoil dealer, I know with no doubt what the answer is: go synthetic, period.

Which synthetic? You can't go wrong with either Amsoil or Mobil, IMO. If where your tranny has Amsoil, have them fill it with that. If not, use the Mobil.

Either way, good luck.
