Hi
I just got a '02 4700 with a T444e International with 44,000 on it and the instrument cluster is not powering up on startup, rpm-speedo-temp gauges just nada. Instrument cluster cycles when first turning the key on then no gauges on start until it warms up in about 20 mins then presto the gauges pop on and then runs fine., but runs doggy til warm.
I'm new to the T444e.
Recently put a new fuel filter and changed the oil/filter, was running good though.
Any ideas ?

Thanks
Mike

We're in the middle of chasing this down on an 01 4700 with a T444E. We were told that there is a ground wire that grounds to the starter from the cluster and that this is the issue. Last I checked this has not been found but I will do my best to see where it stands and what the end result really is.

You need to take the cluster out and check the wire harnesses to the back of the cluster they do become loose, think 6 screws hold dash in, been a few years since I had one out!

Thanks for reply,
Pulled out the cluster, 2 lower screws and couple grey push in clips on top of it to remove. There were 3 plugs all with plug tab locks on the back of the cluster, I took them out and plugged them back into the cluster. Lets see what happens tomorrow.

Thanks

KWCAT, So far so good since I pulled the instrument cluster and re-plugged the cables, as you suggested. Has not dropped out for the last couple days.

LTFFNREMTP, if you find that ground, I would be interested to know where that is if you find that's the issue on your unit.

Thanks

Normally the problem is the solder breaks around the pins on the circuit board. If you grab the green and yellow connectors on the back of board and wiggle them around problem will present itself. To fix you pull cluster out and disassemble to get to the circuit board. You can normally see the solder is no longer around the pin causing it to make intermittent contact. Just resolder the joints and problem fixed.

Thanks fourhatz, after I replugged the connectors it worked for a bit then lost the cluster again. I'll take it out and solder those loose joints as you suggested, had issues with other circuit boards and had to do the same.
