Newbie here. 1999 7.3L automatic with no mods.
I'm trying to hook up a remote starter. I have it all working in a tachless mode, but it sometimes won't crank the engine long enough here in MN when it is below zero. There is an option to hook up to the tach sensor wire. Everything I have read about this says there is a white wire with a pink stripe in the wiring harness to the left of the brake pedal. There is indeed a wire like this in that wiring harness, but is has a constant 12V with key on. It doesn't seem to be the tach signal. Any ideas for me?

The tach wire is indeed white/pink. It runs from PCM pin 19 thru connector C1049 (top of the three vertically arranged connectors thru the firewall) pin 9, and up to the instrument panel connector pin 5.

As far as what voltage it runs at, it may be a pulsed 12V, but not sure.
