Ok my truck doesn't seem to want to go into drive at all, I bought it and it drove fine then i was driving along and it just dropped out of gear and now it won't go back the trans pressure is good just changed the oil and the MLPS. I am getting a new tach sensor cause I noticed that the tach was jumping about with no care to what it should be doing. but now i cant get the truck to go forward at all with out red lining it. Did it cook the shift solenoids the trans was rebuilt but that was before I bought it. and the only time the od light blinks is when I have the boot down.

the truck is a 7.3 e4od 4x4 reg cab

Need more info.
Did you get the correct trans. filter if you changed it? 4X4 needs the deep filter.
How much fluid did you put in after changing?
Did you check the level when warmed up, after changing?
Does the tach indicate RPM when idleing?
What year is the truck?

Sorry bee so frustrated with the truck I forgot some details

Yes I got the correct filter and after draining the trans and the TC it was almost 18 quarts of oil added. I used the mercon like it says to use i have read other guys use straight type f not sure if thats what I should use or not.

the tach does not show more then 200 rpm when ideling and i checked it with an optic tach and got about 700rpm when warmed up

the trans is just under the top of the full mark like not even half a quart to top it up so it should be fine.

Its a 1993 F250 with the heavy GVW reg cab long box

It goes into reverse just fine the trans pressure is good it grabs in drive then it lets go but then grabs again and keeps doing that and when the OD light blinks it stops doing that but nothing in the other gears and I have double checked all of the connections. Does it sound like time to rebuild it again. I don't know if it got a shift kit installed at the last rebuild.

How does the trans use the Tach signal no one really explains it that I have been able to find
