Last year I bought a 2002 F-250 with no tailgate, nor did it have the hardware to mount a tailgate. No hinge, no anchors for the support cables, no striker, no rubber bumper.

Well, I've got a 2010 OEM tailgate with the proper lower hinge and support cables, now I need the hardware that would mount to the truck bed. I stopped by the local stealership to get prices, and they wanted $180 for the parts, but said the cable anchors were no longer available.

So yesterday I called about 20 different salvage yards, some in different area codes, asking if they had a 1999-2010 F250 or F350 that I could get the hardware off of. Only 1 yard had one wouldn't part them out because they're still attached to a good bed.

Anyone have a suggestion of where I could get these parts without breaking the bank?

Well, after calling about 20+ salvage yards (no kidding), I finally found one who would sell me just the hardware.

The problem was that every bed that's damaged gets scrapped. And the remaining beds, well the seller's won't sell the parts.

The truck I pilfered was a pre-Super Duty F-250 with 7 lug nuts. Everything worked out but one part, the passenger side roller. On the pre-SD trucks it was round, on the SD models it is oblong, like this:

Ford Part # F65Z-99430B38-AA, cost me $12.01 with tax. I spent more on fuel driving to get it than the part. FoMoCo doesn't call it a hinge, they call it a roller.

The other parts I've not found yet are the rubber bumpers you see in the top of the picture. I've got the part number: E7TZ-99439A00-A, just need to order them. The come two to a pack.
