I know nothing about the system and whats pressured, etc. Id one had a cracked cup/cups and ran the engine with the coolant tank cap off, would one see anything happening in the bottle such as bubbles, etc?

How does one check for cracked cup/s ?

And finally to change them do I have to take all the stuff off the top of the engine?

Oh---anyone in Portland want to replace them for cash and/or beer?

Nothing comes off the top of the engine- just pull the valve covers.

To test them, you can pull the injectors and pressurize the cooling system. It is possible you will see water seeping through the crack- but not always. You rent the tools to pull the cups. The most important part is cleaning. It's 90% of the job. Scraping and brushing the old loctite off until the bores are spotless. Then, you press the new cups in with the other rented tool in the kit. You have to let them cure overnight and then put it all back together.
