Guess what....I think broke something in my tranny on the way to work this morning.

Dont have a clue what it is. Thinkin maybe input or intermediate shaft. Guess I'll be finding out shortly.

BAD BAD timing. ($)

Here's the scenario. On the Interstate going "slightly" above the speed limit tailing a Hemi Magnum. While "in the throttle" I rolled over a pretty nasty expansion joint. The truck bounced and I think they rear tires came up just a hair off the road. I heard a slight bang, rpms went to rev limiter and whalah! no power to the wheels. feels like neutral in every gear.

Park does works.....

Whatever it ends up being, I'll deal with it.

It's on the rack now. They are gonna check the T case first (doubt its in the t case, although 4wd doesnt work) and then go to the transmission.

Do yourself a favor and pony up and get a built unit or get the parts to do a full rebuild. It's all comming out anyways to inspect so you should just replace it all with better than stock.

Sorry to here that. Sounds like an intermediate shaft to me, we have had that happen before on a couple trucks.

Considering that as well.

Cutting a check for 36 loads of dirt at $80 a piece and spending another 5 grand on furniture yesterday definately has the chains on spending too much money. I'm almost tapped at the moment. lol

Use the old furniture a little longer and get the built tranny.
On edit: You might have to sleep in the truck.

They guy who is working on it is an awesome tranny tech.....but doesnt know a whole lot about upgraded parts for high HP application. (I know....I dont make high HP.lol. I might one day though)

He told me I can get the parts overnighted and he'll install.

I've been told that the planetary out of an '02 and up is billet.

Mine was aluminum. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/shrug.gif cant figure that out. From what I understand its not supposed to be.

I'm wondering if somebody did some parts swappin' on me (aluminum only offered in 95-97). You do realize only one person has had that tranny apart right? Wonder who that could be......
