The other day I raced my buddy in his 2005 /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/vomit.gif Chevy /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/vomit.gif Duramax. The truck is a shortbed crew cab with a 6" lift and 37" x-terrain tires. Heres the problem, his motor, intake, and exhaust are BONE STOCK and I beat him by maybe 5 feet (if that!!!) I cant believe with all my mods (see my signature) I didnt hand him his.......BUTT! I have also been outran by a 2002 F-250 7.3 with the little hypertech programmer, 3 1/2" to 4" exhaust, and a k&n filter kit. Granted, he has the 6 speed but still! I know I have the early 99 HPOP, (am looking for a better one if anyone has any info)and I really hope this solves my problem. Right now I cant even tell a real difference between "RACE" and the "EXTREME" settings on my DI 6 pos. chip. I still get the SES light after a full throttle pass even in the "dailey driver" position. Any help is appreciated. I MUST HAVE MY REVENGE!!!!! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggrin.gif

Ever had her on the dyno?it might give you some numbers to work with. It's hard to say if there is a problem or not, sounds like you should be a wee bit faster, but the numbers would be helpful.

So, basically all you have for performance is a chip, intake and exhaust? You think this combo with your 6in lift and 36in tires is going to let you smoke a stock Dmax or stock non lifted truck w/ a programmer? Your lift and huge tires are killing your gear ratio and performance.

The tires are killing ya. Get back to stock or change gears. With your mods you might be 100-125 hp over stock. Look at what the stock hp is for a 2005 duramax.

Warning: WET BLANKET reply

Please don't street race.
I hope you were on a closed track.
If you knew how many feet it takes to stop a 3 ton rig at 80mph,
it would boggle your mind. Forget 4-wheel disc...it doesn't matter.

I volunteered at a local fire company back in the day.
We had a red crew cab Dodge Power wagon with an exterior implement rack:
There was a snow shovel clamped to it.

I had to use it ONE time.

Changed my life, man.
We washed the rest off with a 2" hose from a Waukesha pumper.

Speed kills. We'd rather have you posting here!

Yeah your right, street racing is wrong. Thanks for the heartfelt advice /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif To the other posts, the duramax is a 2005 shortbed crewcab with BIGGER tires than mine. 100k on the truck. Just thought it would do better. Thanks to all /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

A stock Duramax would still kick your 1999 butt even if you did have stock tires /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/shrug.gif
