I love my X, but after I rode in the back seat of one the other day I realized how cramped it is if there is a big guy driving.

The F150 and expy are a totally different market from the F250/350 X market are they not? like it was stated look at the tbird and ponder what goes through their minds. I know persons waiting on a diesel 150 are just buying gasers now, with the price of fuel and the add on for the motor why wait?

My question is; what in the heck does Ford think an extended Expedition V6 diesel has to do with a diesel Excursion?? To me it's just like saying to a guy who needs an F350, "go ahead and take this F150 since I have it on the lot". I predict that Chevy will start producing a diesel Suburban soon and Ford can kiss ALL it's SUV buyers goodbye except a few soccer moms (oh yeah, Chevy already has them too).

I totally agree, read my earlier posts in this thread, I stepped up to Excursion from Expedition - and that was a 99 with a solid axle before they softened it up for soccer moms.

I like it just the way it is, give us the SuperDuties improvements and I'll keep buying them forever.

I agree, if Ford would just keep making Excursions with all the new stuff like the coil front suspension, intergrated brake controller etc I would buy my third one.

I thought the V6 PS Diesel was killed due to the 2007 emmisions standards were not going to be met for the 1/2 ton GVW class and they pulled the plug on the Epedition and F150 ever getting it. The new cab over LCF is a clone of a New cab over IH, it just has ford logos and is in a much higher GVW class than pickups and suv's. I thought the possabilities for future Diesels in 1/2 tons was with Ford and Cummins and not ever going to be the Navstar V6. I am new to this forum but as fleet manager for our company I follow the truck market pretty close and I especialy love Diesel trucks and what they can do.

I bet the X is ending this time, especialy since none of the more important Superduty upgrades made it to the 2005 mdl. The 2005 is just a 2004 with a new bunper and grill. that new front suspension would have been very nice on a X.

I used to drive suburbans and everthing else GM in my garage but since I traded my 2002 cc 4x4 GMC diesel for my X, started making alot of changes along with fleet truck changes at work from GM to ford. I guess you can say that ford didn't just sell one x to me but a whole list of other cars and trucks that followed. I still think GM has Ford beat hands down in ride and handeling in the half ton areana but Ford kicks GM's butt in the superduty areana. I guess I will be going back to the Suburban in a few years just not big fan of the expeditions most expedition owners I know only get 12mpg and my X gets close to 19 at least my suburbans always got at least 17.

What I love is how they have basically abandoned it. Took Rachel's Ex in for service on Thursday, walked around the lot. Found 1 2005 Excursion. They did not even update the badges like on the Superduties. Pretty Lame. Glad we got a good one for a while.

Geez, slim pickens for new Excursions on the lot up there.

My selling dealer is going thru them like hotcakes,7 2005's on the lot(all diesels) and 2 more on delivery(diesels also) /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif

The wife and I had a chat about the demise of the family truckster but both agreed we won't give our 2002 up for nuthin else.

Well you just never know

Remember the X did not come out for 1 1/2 years after the first SDs as I recall.

Ford could have by now realized it made a mistake in adding the X as part of it's extensive SUV line. They should by now understand who the customer is for these monsters, same as for SD S&C Cabs put with different needs not for the SUV crowd. All they need to do is look at who has bought two, that is the market.

Production is low they cannot build it for a while and all that will happen is the demand will go up.

I would not be shocked to see a version of a Super Duty "Work Wagon" available after the new SDs come out, if it does it should have all "truck badging" Just another SD with a different cab. Heck it can even have all the same square doors I don't care, Ford should use as many SD parts as possible EVEN THE SPRINGS! Just give me my short WB work wagon.

Let's face it, if they came out with a King ranch "work wagon" in 2009 most of us would be looking /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

And since it is a work truck for utility emergency services and a few of us with "THE NEED" no greenie group will even bat an eye if it runs on gas or diesel.

We can always hope /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Ford has been under pressure from the green-peace and tree huggers likes since introduction of the Ex. Ford has had a yearly response that they are quiting production of the Ex to appease them. Ford has not been lying to them either. Ford builds a fixed number of Ex units at the begining of each model year (around 50,000 units) and then stops production to focus all lines on Trucks. Who know's when production will actually stop. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I don't care if they stop production, because I have mine, I do care that they continue to have parts available just in case for years to come. I actually change my mind, I do care and hope they are produced in 06, because my best friend want to sell his SD 2500 and get one. He just can't afford it right now.

The last word is that at the end of the 06 production year they are retooling the Kentucky plant for a new SD design for the 07 model year. So unless they also redesign the X for the 07 year the 06 model year will be the end. It's a shame we wanted two X's one in 06 and another in 07. I guess the 07 truck will be a Suburban.

Official word that I got from my "insider" is that September will be the final month of Excursion production.

I totally agree that the Excursion is not the best mover In Dubai is United Mover, that is what the Expedition is for and it holds as many people as the Excursion does.

The Excursion is for people that need heavy duty carrying / towing capacity that don't want or can't use a pickem-up-truck. Like Me.

I carry thousands of dollars of computer and testing equipment around to different client sites, I dont want expensive stuff banging around in the back of a pickup. I want to be able to access stuff without having to climb up into the bed of a pickup. I also want to be able to access the stuff in the truck from the back and the sides. I want the equipment kept warm in transport during the winter months.

I want a strong tow vehicle to be able to tow my racecar in the summer months and be able to store and access tools and support equipment in the back when I'm at the track, again without having to climb up into the truck bed.

Bottom line: the diesel Excursion is perfect for my work and liesure lifestyle.

It is not like Ford has to maintain a completely separate vehicle line, the Excursion and SuperDuty share (or should share) 70% ???? of each others parts.
Guess the value of our X's just went up. I have seen Ford do this with other models and keep them going longer. How better to sell vehicles than to say they are going to stop production. If any one wants one they better get them while there hot.

Ford said they were going to stop the Excursion in 2005. And what happened? They haven't made an Excursion since 2005. You're about 17 years late to this party.
