Today I decided to stop the axle hop. All I did was clamp the front of the leafs together to keep it from spreading under a severe load. I used 2 peices of flat 1/2 steel and cut bolt holes in them and strapped them on the stack of leafs right behind the OEM(pos) clamp.

Im sure short u-bolts with top straps would work fine but I had a plasma cutter and 1/2 steel in front of me.

Anyways,it worked like a charm!! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smokin.gif All power to the ground.

Axle hop during when?...Pulling a sled...or burning them off? Cause I get bad hops while pulling.

burning them off either in the dirt or on the street.

Really cheap fix, oh and I used 3/4 in bolts to hold the 1/2 straps together

Leaf clamps will work(good idea), traction bars are a must, the link will put the power to the ground and miss the leafs all together...

While this might work for the wheel hop, you have bound up your rear springs.
They need to slide against each other, that's why the factory clamp only holds them from turning sideways.

This will cause some unwanted issues over time.

I agree that trac bars are a must, I just wanted something quick as I didnt have time to fab up some trac bars right away-but will in the future.
