My 2001 7.3L starts and runs good except once in a while, I go to step on the throttle and the throttle doesn't do much except all of a sudden I hear the injectors RAP up and then it takes off. When codes are examined, I get a P1211 "ICP Pressure Is Above/Below Desired". I have already replaced the ICP with a good factory one. The old one previously went bad and I had to drive home with it disconnected.
I am guessing the only other thing it could be is a sticking IPR. It really doesn't happen only rarely. I have driven it for a few days and it has been ok. Then another day, it did it 3 times in a hour or two. Looking for some suggestions or if I replaced the IPR, is that the likely culprit?

Thanks, Dennis

First check to make sure the tin nut holding the coil on the IPR is snug. If it's loose or laying on the bottom of the valley, that could cause symptoms like that.

Ya, I had that happen on a E350 van once. If you took off too fast, I think it would quit if I remember right. I found the nut laying in the valley and the coil would slide out of location. Restarting it would re-position the coil by magnetism.

I will check that, but I think this is different because I can hammer it and it responds fine. I'm thinking the only possibility is replacing the IPR. but just want to cover all bases before buying that slightly expensive part.
