Well, I thought the Tranny was going out on a trip back from N. W. New Mexico. Tranny started to shift rough in the 3rd to 4th gear and lock up. took it to the tranny shop and they pulled a code for throttle position sensor malfunction. The tranny shifts fine now and the next day after the incident. Is this possible? I was told it is a fly by wire accelerator pedal. Has anyone had this problem before? Thanks in advance.

The accel pedal is a variable potentiometer that sends a signal to the PCM based on the amount of pressure put on the pedal. There is no traditional accelerator cable on these trucks.

Yes, a faulty signal from the pedal can give you erratic throttle response.

...and those signals sent to the PCM will influence the decisions that the PCM makes about shifting the transmission.
