Hey guys, weve got a 2001 Excursion 7.3L 4wd, and some times ill be driving it and the motor will just drop down to an idle and stay there for a few seconds, or until i shift it in to neutral. I have heard that this could be a problem with the sensor on the gas pedal? has anyone else had this problem before?

Any check engine light? Have you had codes pulled?

The SES light comes on but not all the time. And the truck will drop to idle like I said every so often it just kinda does it there's not really a pattern to it

Yes there was a recall on many 01 and early 02 Xs for a fault in the resitor module in the accelerator ass'y you should be able to find it.

Spec is no more that 0.6" of movement without engine RPM increase as I recall.

Have Dealer check your Oasis and see if your truck falls into this group and if the recall was ever done one it.

My 02 failed just prior to the recall but late enough that I did get the improved part, it would do exactly as you say, kind of scarry near the end of the on ramp!

It's even scarier when my stepdads custom 1957 Chevy bel air is on the trailer behind it.... So you said they did a recall on these?

Yea but the recall may be over. The dealer can tell you more. if it is over then just order a new peddle assembly and replace it yourself. You can search for "dead peddle" for more information.
