I just got back from a trip and need a way to lower egt's and increase power. I was pullings a 31' toybox with a 20' car hauler behind it. The egt stayed at nearlly 1300 most of the time.

With the stuff you have and if your towing often you NEED an intercooler, that will knock those EGT's off alot, after that then I would worry about more power, just my .02 /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif

Run a search on our search deal, it aint the best searching thing but at lease every day or two there is a new intercooler post and i believe one going right now. There are a few hose/bracket kits available for more $$ or guys build them themselves, depends on how much fabbing you want. Alot of guys buy super duty intercoolers off ebay, few different options though, try searching, then if you cant find what you want just ask here.

I'm with Nit, my intercooler lowered the temp maybe 100 degrees on the average. A lot of work for that. I'm going to try a custom chip soon.

This is exactly what I saw with my Banks intercooler. After I received it, I took the truck out and hammered on it in the different settings and wrote down the boost numbers and pyro numbers. Did the same after the intercooler install. 100 deg. is all I saw, kind of thought it would be more. Also, boost was down about 3 psi. due to the longer run to the engine. It took an entire day for us to install and ours from Banks has all of the piping fitted as it needs to be.

All that kinda makes me wonder if the intercooler is worth the money and time.

with my horse trailer it dropped it 100-150 but I could not get a good section of road that was clear today to really test it.
I hope to get the AD injectors in soon.

Mine didn't seem any faster. If there is a difference either way, I couldn't tell. I thought I've seen on here about people seeing a performance increase and Banks told me it would be a substantial increase, I just didn't see it. I got mine because I put stage 1 injectors in and added a chip and a few other mods and didn't want to tow my trailer (about 9K pounds) and find out it would run too hot.

I installed the SD intercooler with the gts piping kit and it lowered my temps about 150-200 degrees under normal towing, but at WOT is where it pays off.I tow a 35ft 5er(about 15000lbs loaded)and with programmer in performance mode,Propane On, at WOT over Eagle Pass in Tenn.it never goes over 1200 degrees.I am sure that a good Chip instead of the programmer would give even better results.

I tend to agree with deereman39 i installed the banks intercooler and have never had a problem with egt,s since.it is especially true at wot mine with fiver on back and propane on runs only up to 1100 or so.before the intercooler i could not even run empty over the summit without egt,s becoming an issue. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smokin.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smokin.gif

Propane makes exhust temps hotter as you are adding more fuel.

White97, I have posted a few questions on the whole innercooler deal, and here is what I found. I have seen people with numbers that really matter, as in lower egts when under load. 1200 at wot is a nice number for 15000 lbs behind. I usually have to push, back out, level off and push again here in Colorado. I happened to have my truck in today to replace the drivers side hpop plug, due to messy oil leak. The 3 Master Diesel Mechanics in the shop all told me to get an innercooler and stop whining. They will even do the 7.3 stock and kit install for 500.00. Now that cannot be beat, especially considering the cost of some of the mods possibly. With Wildmans chip and an innercooler, I cannot imagine needing more towing power, especially since my 94 was a 460. Not nearly the power or mileage of the Stroker. I believe that an innercooler is worth its weight in gold as my next mod. Remember too that the E4OD is not an allison and I blew my 460 with just its power level. My longwinded just learned and believed .02. Colin in Colorado /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smirk.gif
