TPMS Sensors

I've got about 65K on my Job 2 truck right now - and I'm on my third set of these sensors in the wheels!? Anyone else have any issues with these!? It seems that the band comes apart and then the sensor itself will become a projectile inside the tire. Not good. Really messes up the balance on that tire and the light comes on the dash. I had a couple replaced when it was under the 36K general warranty. I've replaced all 4 at least once at my expense and at least one more came off the other day. Its at the dealer now. They say that this is a common problem especially on the larger diameter truck wheels. I've got the factory 20's w/ factory size tires. Anyone else seen these issues!?

I've had my issues with this system. This fall I had a badly cut tire. Could not get it off the hub to mount the spare! (There's another thread about this problem) Aired tire to 80 psi, loaded my compressor and generator in the truck, and headed to the tire shop (100 miles away) TPMS light came on 10 miles away from shop, I got out just to check pressure - it was 50 psi. So even though system called for 80 psi the warning did not trigger until 50 psi. I have verified this one other time - don't ask how come!
I don't disagree - I've had experience with two other vehicles from two different manufacturers accurately warn for low pressure on the mornings first start up! On the other hand I drove the same truck new off the lot with the TPMS sensors missing for 3 days before a warning was flashed! (another story but indicative of the issue with Ford's system!)
