My truck will run fine for days at a time and all of the sudden it starts to stutter and lose the pedal, let off the pedal and the truck continues to idle, I can drive a little further with the pedal and then it feels like there is no pedal and it stutters again. I have been lucky enough to limp it home the first couple of times. The first (2) times I limped home using the pedal and it would throw a SES. I did try the cruise last time and I could drive by the cruise without any problems once I was a decent speed. I have read a few posts about the TPS, I'm asking for your input does this sound like a TPS or could it be something else? I have to make a decision between going to the local shop and trying to pull the codes for $90 - $100 or replacing a TPS for $90 - $100

Please note the the fuel filter was changed less than 1000 miles ago and the CPS was replaced 2 weeks ago with the new Ford B model

I thought I saw a link where someone was selling a TPS without the entire pedal. A lot cheaper.

Yes you did ...

Right... Here...

Heres more reading...Throttle Pedal Sensor
The Accelerator Pedal (TP) sensor provides the PCM with the driver's demand for power. The TP sensor is a three-wire potentiometer that receives VREF from the PCM and returns a signal to the PCM directly proportional to the accelerator pedal position. The TP signal is used in calculating fuel quantity. Also, the TP input is used by the PCM to control the exhaust back-pressure regulator.

A PCM detected fault of the TP sensor will illuminate the Malfunction Indicator Lamp in the instrument cluster. An TP signal that is detected out of range, high or low, will cause the PCM to only allow the engine to operate at low idle.

Idle Validation Switch
The Idle Validation Switch verifies when the accelerator pedal is in the idle position. This switch protects against in-range failure of the AP sensor.

A PCM detected fault of the Idle Validation Switch will illuminate the Malfunction Indicator Lamp. An inoperative Idle Validation Switch detected by the PCM will only allow the engine to run at idle.

Hope it helps
