OK-here goes...

2000 Excursion XLT 7.3 4x4

I have no power at the trailer tow plug (haven't checked brake control signal).

Don't tow very often with it so I'm not sure how long this has been going on-I'm certain that last summer I had lights brakes and flashers though. Fuses all check out. The ground rings out as a strong connection with an ohm meter(from the plug pin back to the fram)-I expected that to be my problem! I took the factory plug apart and everything is in great shape. Also-the 12V trailer power feed has a known good relay and good fuse but nothing at the trailer plug either.

I had a pcm issue in the fall and had the underhood distribution box out a few times(to remove the computer plug bolt)-and relays in and out. Wondering if I could have left a connector loose(or inadvertently bumped something)?

Is there a relay that controls running lights and flashers for the plug (I don't have my Ford wiring diagram book with me so I'm not sure about a few things)?

I'm gonna do a visual under the truck tomorrow morning-I just don't want to start tearing things apart if I'm missing something simple...

Thoughts? Ideas? Thanks

double check ur fuses under the hood(the towing harness is a seperate circuit from the truck) if ur sure those r good start looking for a corroded connector. i worked on an f-series last summer that had a bad connection on the back of the trailer connector itself. if i recall the connector came apart on the backside and thats where i found the problem. good luck

A really simple thing to try would be to cleaning the contacts.

I have had them get enough dust and grime on them that you don't make good contact.

I usually spray both sides of the connection with WD-40 and plug and unplug the connection several times.

Worth a shot, anyway.

The fuses are all good...I've been through this drill with trailers and my Fords many times.

The connectors on the plug end look great(amazing actually-the plug above the hitch even looks good and I've opened each up and checked for voltage at each as well) there's one up behind the bumper that I can't get to (on a superduty there's great access when dropping the spare-not so much on the X!)

I'm hoping that someone can enlighten me as to either a hidden plug or the like that would interrupt all circuits-when I check the brake feed I'll have an even better idea of what I'm up against(I think?) worst case I can trace it all out when I get home and have access to the wiring diagrams.

I have the same problem. I found that where the wire connect to the plug-in(behind the metal cover) comes lose. I just push them back together and it works find until next time I tow then I need to repush them together

My first thought was that this could be my problem-I've resorted to testing from the inner plug to eliminate that from the equation.

I'm gonna take this up this weekend and spend some timw under the truck checking connectors-thanks for the thoughts so far...
