Ok I am getting rid of the horn set-up I currently have under the bed where the spare goes....I purchased the 200PSI Kong MKII system from Seige Engineering...Anyone running this horn? Most important question is...Anybody have ideas or pictures if they have a 3 gallon tank where they mounted it? The new 3 gallon tank is much bigger then the 1 gallon I have and its not gonna fit in the same spot I have it now...Any ideas or pictures will help alot thanks!

NO doubt this is going to be moved, but I have mine mounted on teh passenger side right under the rear door. It fits, does not hang down and is right under the compressor that I have in the truck.

Hey whats up. I got the Kong from Seige what a great horn you wont be let down. I actually installed it with a 5 gallon tank so i can extra air in case i need to fill a tire in an emergency. I do not have any picture, but i held it to the passenger side frame rail just like in the picture provided by cmirabile. that is a great location, for the tank, but instead of having to drill the framerail i held it on with straps like they hold on the gas tanks on our truck or on the big rigs with the round tanks. It actually took me about 2-3 minutes to mount the tank. As for the horn i positioned it in the bar that runs across the truck (from driver to passenger) which holds the driveshaft. I held it on the driver side, as the passenger side has the muffler. But know I have to move it because i am looking at a bigger replacement gas tank and the horn is in its way. So I myself have to look for a new position, but it migh work for you. Good luck, and have fun with the horn.

Thanks for the repply's so far guys....Bear Hunter....Under your truck looks badass damn!! You dont have a pic from the ground up of the set up do you? SO I can see exactly how you have it mounted? Looks like you have the tank mounted all the way in the back and the horns mounted to blow towards the front of the truck?
Thanks

I have the kong and 10 galls at 150 psi. It is loud, but the sound is far form a classic set of nathan P3's, 3 gallons will get you a 8-10 +/- second honk before it trails off using 3/8 tubing and solinoid. Enough to generate soiled shorts in the person you are honking at! Try to hang the tanks along the frame rails to save your spare. A 5 gallon slim tank fits fine on each side of the bed. Install an extra solinoid as a blow off valve and for future expansion. I added a fitting under the tail gate hindge to allow for airing up my tires, dirt bikes, 5'r, and beach toys. suicidedoors.com has good prices on long skinny tanks.

I have a 9 gallon tank on my F450 mounted between the passenger frame rail and the running board. It looks low from the picture, but it has 10" clearance at the drain valve. I can run an impact to change tires, etc. with it. I have a 145 on/185 off switch. It will blow the horn loud for a good minute before losing pressure. Look under the running board on the yellow truck. LS http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y25/LSchicago/Img00783.jpg

I am in the process of installing this system in my Ex, I also ordered a five gal tank to run in series with the three gal. I am running a coulpe Hansen air fittings for when I airdown I can use it for airing back up. I'm also tapping in for in-cab controls for my air bags.

I'll post a couple pics when I get home to take them. I mounted mine off the rail below the driver and back. I have a 44 gallon tank where you guys have a spare.

No... My horns have saved me from being side swiped numerous times by drivers who are not paying attention. In a situation like that your first instinct is to go for the horn button in your steering wheel vs. reaching down and hitting a seperate activation switch.

I wired up an SPDT mini toggle in my steering column that is spliced into the positive polarity horn wire located behind the fusebox (Yellow/Green). The position of the switch will determine which horn is sounded when the horn button in the steering wheel is depressed. For example...toggle forward= stock horn when horn button is depressed, toggle back= air horn when horn button is depressed. The toggle is not an "activation" switch...it is a "selector" switch if that makes sense. I must confess that I always keep it in the "air horn" position...but I have the luxury of putting it back to stock any time I want by flipping the switch.

Nope I just use my upfitterswitch to turn the compressor on or off. i actually installed a push button switch on the floor under the rug ( not visible), and use my feet to sound it, just like the fire trucks and old school police cars did with their air horn siren. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Thanks for that info, that's exactly how I am wiring mine also. I just haven't spent the time to find the horn wire yet.

I did it that way aswell. Only thing is I put a relay close to the horn on the passenger side so I wouldn't have trouble finding the wire. Always yellow with green tracer. I also wired it up to Aux 3 on my upfitter control. "Whats that officer? No! Of course I dont have a unusually harsh or loud horn. I only have my stock horn, see?" /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggrin.gif

I put a separate push button on the little block off plate on the left of the steering column. (Maybe that's where they put the adjustable pedals switch?)Which I don't have. Easy to access, and the factory horn still works for when you need a quieter horn. LS

Wish I had train horns this afternoon. A lady fought like h^%l to get in front of me, pulled into my lane short and set down on the brake to turn right. The best reason for train horns. As it was I saw her turn her head and look back at me, when she realized how much bigger my truck was than a Mazda Miata. Train horns would have for sure made her have to change clothes, and maybe redo the interior.
