A Monster Box via Bob Riley will bridge the gap in price between a Ford Reman and a BTS. www.dieselsite.com is his site.

$2400 for a Ford, $3400 or whatever for a MB, or $3800 plus shipping for a BTS not including shipping is still breaking the bank ... but when the trans goes the bank is not the most important question IMO.

My choice is in my signature and the only way to do this right is to go there /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggrin.gif

Yeah, but any hints on how to facilitate a BTS when you're 2500 miles away, your tranny is undrivable, and you have to ship your trans out, git-r-done, shipped back and reinstalled.

All when your PSD is a daily driver?

my ford reman is still going at it with 111,000 miles on it.I just added a cooler to this one a deeper pan and now a FTVB had the sonnax spring.I also change the fluid every 15,000 and filter fluid every 30,000.

I tow seldom.Drive the piss out of my truck run a couple of truck pulls drags last summer and some dyno runs.

[/ QUOTE ] mike, you have 111,000 on the ford reman trans? if so i think that is the way i will go. what torque converter do you have? i think the coast to coast warranty from ford will let me sleep a litle better. ed.

Yes I do.Ilet ford do all the work. They put in a new crappy tranny cooler TC the whole works.I think what has made it last longer is the deeper pan and bigger cooler to go with the ford cooler I was hitting the yellow on the stock tranny temp gauge before I added another cooler to it.

The FTVB and Sonnax valve springs was to firm up the shifts and make the clutches last longer.IF you are not going to put high power mods on then I would go for it.

I would wait till the warranty is over on the tranny before you add any aftermarket parts to it.

The guy I bought the FTVB from said that on the new reman's ford went with a triple disk TC you might want to ask on this one.

Yes, the current revsision of Torque Converters are much better than the older ones. Triple disc clutch with around 75 square inches of surface area vs. the single disc in your 99 with around 33 square inches of surface area. The new TC's have furnace brazed internals vs your crap welded one. The Torrington bearing is also supposedly pretty stout too.

DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME with anything else!

Save your pennies and just buy the BTS....One of the best things I could have ever done! The new converter in my truck...WOW....I can HEAR AGAIN!
