I thought my tranny 4r100 was shot. I took it to the best transmission shop in town and they couldn't find anything wrong with it.
I felt like an idiot.
I bought the truck 55k miles ago and the problem hasn't gotten worse. It has 234k on it now. and I could not even get them to sell me a new transmission with the questions I was asking.

The problem I am having is, When going down the freeway and traffic slows or comes to a crawl, when I step on it the truck will rev till red line and go nowhere. The egts will hit 1000 if I let them.

I was also considering the turbo a problem. When the truck is dogging it my boost is at less then 5 psi. Could A turbo not spooling up properly cause a lag in shifts?

Any help or advice will help us out tring to get 500k out of this truck.

Thank you

Yes, a turbo not spoiling up will cause shift issues like you're seeing.

Thank you for your reply.
I know you are a transmission guy and don't get into motor issues.
But do you think I am on the right path in my thinking? The tranny shop was impressed with my maintenance on the truck.
I thought there was something other then the transmission causing the shifting issue.
Thank you for your help.

Yes, you're on the right path. Fix what's wrong with the engine and that will fix the trans, too.
