Sounds like you have a vacuum leak either in the auto hubs or in the line from the vacuum pump (on top of the right inner fender) or your vacuum pump is bad.

X2. Check if your heater will only go to defrost. sure sign of a vacuum leak "somewhere".

I have the same problem with my '04. It is most likely a vacuum leak in the lines that go to your hubs, or in the hubs themselves. I have to lock my hubs manually and when I shift the transfer case to 4WD the AC or heater goes to defrost. That's the sign of a vacuum leak, the air shifting to defrost.
