So I had been using Magnefines... Part R038M on my 7.3 Powerstroke. I had to get my fluid changed quickly without getting a new one mail ordered to me since the NAPA ones are now Chinese made so I went to the local Ford dealer and asked for Part #XC3Z-7B144-AB which I believe was the Motorcraft number for the individual magnefine filter...$33 later. I get it home and the Motorcraft box says FT-183 XC3Z-7B155-G. Is this an updated part number from what Smokey Wren posted? To add more confusion, the number on the part itself was XC3P-7B155-BC. I note that it was made in America, not Australia like the Magnefines. Can anyone shed light on this for me? Is the Motorcraft part functionally the same as the Magnefine?

Functionally, they will all be equivalent. It's just a paper element with a magnet in the flow stream. I suspect the part change came with a different manufacturer.

XC3Z7B155BA (FT-167) is the one we are used to seeing. It has the accordion body and was labeled Magnefine and later Raybestos.

XC3Z-7B155-G (FT-183) is the one that seems to be in stock now. It has the straight edges and looks to be a rebranded WIX filter.

They're both 3/8" filters with a magnet and a built in bypass.
