Hey Guys,

I am having trouble getting my transmission separated from the engine. I have an Early 99 2wd with a 6speed and I am replacing the clutch. I have it up on the lift, all of the bolts are out. We have tried almost everything and get get it loose. Does anyone have any ideas?

Thanks in advance.

Tilt the hole engine and tranny toward the back of the truck. Try not to hurt the engine mounts. They are rubber. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggrin.gif At the very top of the firewall is a lip make sure the bellhousing clears this. It hangs down about an inch. Then get a pry bar(pipe, crow bar..etc) and pry the tranny back. Rock it from side to side it will help. I guess for starters make sure you got all 6 bolts out of the bell housing. Good luck SHE IS A BIG MAMA!! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smokin.gif

hehe yep this is a "fun" job no doubt. I removed my automagic last week and mine's a 4x4 so even more fun. Had to swivel it side to side and yank on it a bit to get it off the engine. Also helps if you have a pry bar - if you are careful! I didn't have a tranny jack at the time and wound up using a floor jack with lots of pieces of wood.
Needless to say, this was a very dumb move on my part /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/blush.gif I got it down and did everything to it - transgo tugger kit and put the new TC in - but the thing rolled off the jack once and cut clean through the wiring harness... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/crazy.gif
I just wish I would have had some better instructions for the actuall front pump removal and reinstallation. I know I know should have just asked on here, but I wasn't thinking.
Didn't replace the o ring and gasket, now she leaks... so now I get to take it down again... this time I have a tranny jack adaptor though so should go a lot smoother /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif
By the way - does anyone know of a place to get that o-ring and paper gasket for the front pump? I've tried all the local places but they don't even know what I'm talking about... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/rolleyes.gif guess I have to go through Ford maybe?
Anyways thanks,
