Transmission Swap problem

I have 1997 f350 and I put a transmission out of a 1996 e350. The harness is different for the shift selector on the side. I was going to just change the end but the 97 have 6 wires and 96 have 9. I don't know what to do now

Can you swap the switch itself from one tranny to the other? IIRC, there's an adjustment procedure for the switch. Otherwise, you'll probably need the diagrams for both vehicles to determine what terminals on the 9-pin connector correspond to the terminals on the 6-pin.
