I was looking to buy (my first ford diesel) this 1995 F350 cc it has 230,000 miles,it needs some
tlc. The auto trany shifts hard, dose this mean the trany is in need of a rebuild or is this somthing that is a easy fix. they want under $10.000 for it. Would this be a good buy??????

Thanks

It may just mean that it has had some tranny shift mods installed. First thing to look for is a Transcommand. It would be a small box mounted under the cab on the passenger side with cables running to the tranny. If not it might have a Sonnex valve and Tricum springs installed. Both will cause harder than normal shifting. If it goes through the gears well and the OD light doesn't blink count your blessings. The previous owner took precautions to protect his tranny.

10K may be a little high unless it's very clean.

Take it to the best diesel mechanic in the area and have him go thru it and tell you if it is worth considering. Then make the sale contingent on the truck passing a leak down or compression test.
