My truck(05 6.0) the last few times merging onto the interstate (empty) around 2500-2800 rpm and 20-29lbs of boost my truck will almost cough, similar to letting off at high boost. my foot never moves and it may cough two or three times... only does it up an on ramp, picking up speed quickly... any thoughts? bad egr valve? sticking vanes? Thanks

I'm having a similar problem. It's not super noticeable...just like a mommentary taking your foot off of the accelerator. It only seems to happen with over 15 lbs of boost in a higher gear.

I would also appreciate anyone's input on this.

I would GUESS sticking vanes. If it doesn't do it too often it might not be that bad yet, I would ASSUME. I would go from dead stop to WOT often to see if that got rid of it or made it worse. hopefully ur still under warranty with no mods if it gets worse. good luck.

Anyone else have any other info on this? My '04 6.0L has a very slight, but noticeable, hesitation while cruising on the highway. It's as if the motor cuts out for just a fraction of a second and jerks the truck just enough to feel the "miss." I've only had the truck for a couple months, and I'll be towing 14k lbs from Chicago to Utah in a couple weeks and am starting to get a little worried. Any info would be much appreciated!

here is the newest hiccup, so to speak. While driving up a pass in northern californa ( not sure the name elev 7000 and some change feet) empty going about 48 mph for some reason still in over drive about 5-8 lbs of boost 1300 rpm the turbo cough would appear, slight hesitation then be fine. coughed maybe 3 times. dark out so i couldn't see in puffs of smoke? i dunno if this helps or not but any help or thoughts appreciated. Taking it to the dealer in three days for oil change, serpentine belt, diff., and for them to check this problem... see what happens.
