just out of the blue my tuck started blowing blue smoke, i first noticed it a week ago when i was pulling my boat out of the water and ever since then its been getting worse. i have no check engine light and no codes. the truck runs fine but it just smokes like hell. i just changed the fuel filter, i have 60-65 PSI fuel pressure,

does anyone have any ideas?

Any codes? Get them pulled first. Usually when something like that happens its an injector O ring.

Turbo seal possibly. Check for drooling tailpipe.

My daughter's VW TDI had that problem. I noticed the snot from the tailpipe on the driveway and told her to get it checked out. Needed the turbo replaced.

as i stated in my first post i have no codes and everything on the scan tool looks normal(ICP,intake temp, coolant temp, oil temp, cylinder contribution test, buzz test)

the smoke isn't from burning oil its raw fuel, it has a very strong diesel smell.

i have put over 300 miles on it since its started smoking and i haven't used any oil. i did just change the oil about 150 miles ago thinking the 5w40 rotella might be causing the problem /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/shrug.gif

just before the truck started smoking its been taking more cranking for it to start when its hot, its like the HPOP isn't building pressure as fast as it used to, putting 15W40 back in it seems to have helped that a little.

mine did the same thing about a year ago, comminn off the freeway, came to stop lite, looked out back and seen blue smoke pourinn out the back, it did it for about 2 miles then cleared up. about 6 months later i noticed oil in the valley, it was the turbo pedestall o rings.

the truck still runs fine i put almost 100 miles on it today just running arround.i have kept an eye on my oil level and it hasn't moved at all.

a buddy of mine had a 95 powerstroke(known for bad injector o rings) when one of his middle o rings blew out he was using 3 gallons of oil every 1000 miles. and his truck hardly smoked one bit other than when he started it up cold.

i don't doubt that my probelm could be a bad O-ring but if i pull all of the injectors out i would like to have them tested. does anyone know of a reputable place that tests HEUI injector and about how much it costs.

it must have been something sticking in one of my injectors, i got my DP tuner today. i put it on the 140hp smoke setting and stabbed the throttle a couple times and i have no more smoke /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggrin.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggrin.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggrin.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggrin.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggrin.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggrin.gif

it makes all kinds of soot but no blue smoke at a idle /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smokin.gif

i do believe the DP tuner just paid for itself /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Kinda like a sooted up exhaust on an old gasser, caused by Grandma driving it. Just gotta go out and rag on it a little every once in a while. My once in a while is on my way to work and back. Stock, but I still drive it like I stole it. Up to 65 MPH.
