I'm sure somebody has asked, but I couldn't find it in the old post. I have read so many good things about both the TS performance chip and Jody Tipton's chip, that I am having a hard time deciding between the two.

I have a 2000 F-250 PSD, 6-SPD, have now received my AFE stage 2 intake and filter, will be ordering my 4" exhaust, and already have EGT and Boost guages installed. I will be selling a SCMT shortly. Any help would be greatful.

Thanks

TS equals off the shelf generic tunes

DP equals built for your specific truck tunes.

I won't even get into Fuel-7's reputation for detonation or as some people call it, injector rattle.

After 48 people reading the post I'm glad someone actually responded.

Thanks for your input, I 've heard alot of people talk about the DP tuner. I guess I'll give Jody a call. I was just wondering if anyone had done a comparison between the two?

What Hammer said.

I have driven 2 trucks with Ts chips (both w/Fuel-7). They are very impressive, but my personal opinion is Jody's tune is smoother, less abusive power.

I have had TS tunes and now run Jodi's. As stated Fuel 7 was a rowdy tune, but the rattling injectors concerned me. The power is much smoother, the motor doesn't feel taxed and I don't feel the need to flog it all the time!

I have (like many many others) tried different chips, even started with a lame Superchip 75/80 3k after I rolled my truck off the dealers lot. That was better than stock, but only started the neverending quest for the best combination within my budget and life expectancy.

I have had DI's chip, the first 4 posistion I bought. I loved it, regret selling it actually after falling for the hype of Fuel 7. One of my close friends still runs it in his truck and couldn't be happier, he has so much more self control than I do, hehehe.

I ran the TS 4 pos for a few months, the 2 lower settings were not detecably different to me, ran it in the 3rd (120) mostly, and Fuel 7 for fun. Makes lotsa smoke, launched hard, and I did like the downshift with the TC locked at lower speeds. Even though it rattled the TC/Flexplate bolts loose.

Then Jodi's tunes became the talk of this board, as did his attitude and interest in dialing each truck in. I called him, and much like my conversations with David Lott, he (they) didn't rush me, or 'TELL" me what I needed, but suggested some options.

Could I get a gnarlier burn? Yep, could spend more $$$ and go faster, but I don't think I could be any happier than I am now, for NOW.

I laid down an acceptable 14.7 at IRP last fall, without unloading any weight, or lowering fuel levels, or any of the other simple things that improve et's. Basically only intake/exhaust and programming. Haven't run it with the BB turbo, so .................

I have a chip right now,,it's a TS brand with burns from another sponsor. Leaning towards the DP burns on mine..really hard. I have also been impressed with the conversations I have had with Jody. I am HOPEING to meet him this weekend in INDY. Leaving real soon for there. Should roll in about 1-2pm today.

I have had both and IMO TS was raw power. I ran if for a week and returned it. The power was huge but delivered in a way I felt was better suited to racing light to light. I now run a 3 position chip with DP tunes. Big power but delivered in a more refined way. The power comes on smooth without feeling abusive.

Basically three options at the moment: you can send DP-tuner your PCM...You can buy a used PCM from Him...You can buy a flip chip from him.

Fuel-7 is the name of a special 140hp program from TS. It is known to be extremely agressive and some like it, and some don't. Has a reputaion of being hard on trannies and causing detonation which is sometimes referred to as injector rattle. IIRC, The detonation has been known to also install a window in your engine block.

Doh!!! I thought we were talking warraties on the chip. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/blush.gif

What do you mean about the warranty on your truck? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/shrug.gif

Your dealer will warranty it with a TS and not a DP? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/shrug.gif

One of the mechanics is the one who burned it for me. Although i still dont think id have a problem. So if i have a warrenty ill just spend less for a TS, dont get me wrong, everyone that has a DP loves them, i just dont have the money for it.

If you window your block, I don't care how mod friendly your dealer is, Ford is gonna send a Field Rep to check it out and he will check to see if you have signs of a chip or other mods. When that Field Rep finds the cleaned board on the PCM, your warranty claim WILL be denied and your mod friendly dealer won't be able to help you one bit except maybe selling you a new motor at a better price than they would normally.

The used PCM may work, the Field rep won't care if you play stupid or not. His job is to find a reason NOT to honor the warranty. So I hope there are not any other tell-tale stuff. BTW, the Ford Reps have been known to look at the injection spray pattern on the pistons. If they see a flower pattern outside of the bowl....WARRANTY DENIED....that is indicative of advanced fueling from cips or programmers.

So if I send Jody my PCM he will burn a program to it for 75 bucks, sounds like a hell of a deal, or am I mistaken? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/shrug.gif
