How much of a gain without injectors would I see if I put the new turbonetics unit in. Would it change the sound? Faster spool up? Sorry I am new to this and want to spend my money right the first time.

You wont see much hp increase without more fuel. It will probably spool a little slower and your egts will drop. I am not sure about the sound.

What then can I do for more hp without injectors? I thought that with a 120 hp tune and a ball turbo that I would see fast spool and more hp. will it clear the smoke I get now?

Do you get smoke once the turbo is spooled? About the only way to clean up the haze competely is with nitrous. You might get 10 hp from the bigger turbo, but you need more fuel to make much more power.

No I don't have smoke when the turbo gets up to speed. Will the ats housing give any power at all? Or just take away the serge. I am looking for fast spool up. Thanks.

If you want faster spool up you need to add more fuel. If you put a bigger turbo on with the same fuel it will take longer to light. If your looking for a great combo, try stage 2 injectors, and a gt38 ball bearing turbo, get your chip reburned to take into consideration the upgraded injectors and then start thinking about the fuel system. DI or ITP can help you out with that. Don't just throw stuff at it and hope for the best. Think about where you want the rig to end up at. Think about the COMBINATION you want, that's what makes a great runnin' rig.

Some are making some good power with stock sticks, big oil, with TN or garrett turbos. Before I traded my truck that was the route i was taking beging that i had PMRs (untill i could afford a real motor).

Thanks I am new to this. Stage 2s and a bigger turbo will be ok with PMRs? I am looking for 375 to 400 at the rear wheels. Will those mods get me where I want to be?

My work truck is just about 400HP with Stage II's, TN drop in, Terminator, stock fuel system (bigger pump, should have done reg return while I was in there) and an F5. 400HP is fairly safe with PMR's so long as the tuner knows you have PMR's and they write the programs accordingly.

Dont go overboard on the turbo !! It will suck if its too big and spools slow. Figure out how far your gonna take it and size accordingly. Also might want to figure out how quick your gonna take it there. Dont want to put in a huge turbo , planning on bigger injectors, and have to drive a turd for two more years waiting on $$ to upgrade the rest. I'd call Beans, or Swamps, and see what they recommend. Any of the site sponsors could tell you how to get where you want to be. My honest opinion, (based on many over 150,000 miles pulling the trailer) best bang for the buck is good chip, stage one or two injector, stock turbo, or 1.00 non ebpv, non wastegated stock replacement turbo, and exhaust. The chip and injectors will make good power, (maybe around 320-370 hp to the wheels depending) the exhaust and turbo will clean up most of the smoke, and the exhaust will keep the EGT in check. I've towed many miles on this setup, and only regret is that I didnt do the exhaust sooner. Sounds much better, didnt see any hp gains, but the EGT came WAY DOWN!

H2E for the turbo. Get a chip from DP also at the same time and it would work. The turbo is going to be laggy without injectors but will be a lot louder, EGTs will go way down with that turbo, and is a great turbo to have if your going to be putting more things into the truck down the line.
