Well i looked at my turbo today a someone said its not stock. They said stock in a .84 and mine is a 1.0. Is that true cause with this motor and turbo i got used it sure as heck can pull steep hills in 6th gear and not even hesitate.

If your truck is a 99.5 -03 7.3 then the stock turbine housing is a .84. A very popular mod is to put a 1.0ar housing on those trucks to let them breath a little better and lower egts. It sacrifices a little turbo response but not much. Usually people who do that have put larger injectors in as well, and some put in a larger turbo, or at least a better compressor wheel. Does your truck put out the smoke with your foot in it or pulling a heavy trailer?

I had my turbo replaced by a Ford tech that has a home shop about 2yrs ago. He got the new turbo at his discounted price from Ford. When I was taking the turbo off to install the wicked wheel, I noticed that it had a 1.0 A/R housing. Did any of the 7.3's come factory with the 1.0 A/R housing?

A turbo has two housings, a compressor housing and a turbine (exhaust) housing. The stock compressor housing is a 1.0. The stock exhaust housing is a .84.
