My (early 04) has 65k on it and the 10 vane turbo seems to be making a little noise, sort of a bearing noise only under wide open throttle. It has always made more boost than it should have,it use to spike when you first floored it to about 35 psi and then it would drop down to 30 (Innovative xtreme street). Several times and even more frequent recently, when you floor it it will spike to about 50 psi and just stay there sometimes. It actually wraps the needle on the gauge all the way past 35psi around to the pin at 0!!!!! When it is stuck at 50 psi the power is understandably low. I assume the blades are sticking. I think over speeding it may have trashed the turbo. I have not looked at it yet but has anyone noticed any bearing noise from their turbo prior to a complete failure? I am not talking about the normal whistle.

You are WAAAy out of the Compressor map with those kind of #'s.I would pull the Intake off and see how much play is in the shaft.There should be some radial (Side to side)play in it not much though.And the Axial (In and out)should be next to nothing,You should not be able to feel it move when checking this.Keep Hitting those #'s you stated and you will have a Catastropic failure thats for sure.Its possible you may have already Buzzed the Housing with the Impeller already.

If you start to hear a lower ppitch whine...similar to a blower on a gasser...the bushings are all but gone and it will eat itself soon.
Been there...done that...several times.

[/ QUOTE ]I see my share of Exploded ones on The Class 8 CATS at work.I have seen some Blow the whole cold side housing off before.Broke right off the center cartridge and just hanging there by the Boot.That half of the shaft and Impeller was gone and laying on the road somewhere.Serious Carnage /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/eek.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif
