I have a 2000 F550 7.3L, lately when I turn on the A/C the turbo kicks in. What would cause this???

i'm not following your concern....the turbo is always spinning....how is the AC affecting it?

Sorry guys....I am having to relay the questions/responses since my husband is on job location without internet.

He said that he doesn't have to be hauling/ climbing, or even going particularly fast, and as soon as he cuts on the A/C you can feel/hear the turbo kick in.

If it is the fan clutch and not the turbo, what would cause this to start happening now when never before?

We are the original owners.

Maybe the a/c compressor is going out and making so much resistance that it starts to make boost.Check the compressor to start with.:icon_wink:

My husband told me today that he replaced the serpentine belt and that seems to have fixed it. thanks for the help.
