Well i just got my 6.9- and Now im having some starting issues. "Cold Start" i guess is what its called.

Symptoms- It will start after it sits, all night for example, but then after i get where im going and work or whatever, when I try to start again it wont start. It turns over, slowly like it wasnt getting enough power . . .ill try it 4 or 5 times. . . .eventually it will start to speed up faster and faster and faster till VROOM. . . now i am usually pumping or holding down the gas at this point. -

i origionally thought bateries, but they checket out at 12volts and 900+ CCA. so that wasnt it. . .then i thought starter, but that doesnt seem right because it still turn over, not fast, but it will ater a while. . ..so im not sure. So im thinking GP Controler. . .and that i need to go manual.

That is what my research has brought me at this point. . .

What do you guys think at this point??? Im a little scard. . this is my only car and i need it as a daily driver. . .it is a 6.9 3/4ton ford club wagon. . .i love that thing. . .and im excited to be a diesel driver. . .

thanks in advance for yalls help

That is exactly what mine was doing when my starter needed to be replaced- cranking slow and then it speeds up and starts. I had it tested and it was pulling a crazy number of amps. Changed it out, started great....

Best of luck,

If you know where there is a local auto electric repair shop (starters/generators/alternators) they should be able to test the starter for you, like Devo mentioned his was pulling too many amps. They probably can rebuild your starter cheaper than an auto parts store can sell you a remanufactured one. I think I've read on here that the replacement from Advance Auto is $140 (Mitsubishi gear reduction starter, better item than original). If they quote you less than that for a rebuild it's something to consider. Either way, have the part tested first. I recommend the auto electric shop for testing, my local Advance's test machine lied to me about an alternator a few months back.
