I think of I may have stumbled through a thread in my searching, but I know it took me several days to find that one before.

Anyhow I made a post earlier about my Dummy EGR experience earlier.

Okay get this....

After I was done playing with the EGR for off-road purposes; I decided to unplug the batteries for at least 20 minutes to clear any possible codes.

After driving earlier today I noticed when I restarted I no longer have the "jet-engine" sound when just at idle. Instead the motor actually gets quieter but yet when I hit the pedal the jet engine sound comes back to life and the truck gets loud again, then a few seconds later I loose the sound and the truck gets quieter.

Is this normal operation as I just described? Or am I supposed to be getting the Jet-engine sound full time?

I think I just opened a can of worms even messing with it from the beginning.

I think I have the same problem you are talking about. Its most noticeable when in a drive-thru, when you just barely touch the gas, you can hardly even hear the motor, but push a little harder and the noise comes back. Maybe thats normal, a 6.0 being my 1st diesel I have no idea, but just wondering if its something worth looking into next time in the shop.

Yup; that was the problem I had. Keep in mind like I said this occured after I was done playing with the EGR and put it back to normal use then I disconnected the batteries.

After I got the tip from Choke I just drove it for a short while and it came back to life. It's been 100 miles so far and everything normal.

Maybe try what choke did before piddling with the dealer.

That is caused by the EGR sticking open.
When at idle it's open just slightly..helps quiet the engine down.
When it sticks open this is what happens.....you get the "quiet idle" that was talked to death in here 8-9 months ago.
I've been through it myself....a trip to the dfealer....a new EGR valve.....problem fixed.
Do a search for "quiet idle".
If the search engine is in a good mood it'll take you days to read all the posts about it.
