I was curious if anyone has some form of underbed storage boxes? I am looking for a better place to store my jumper cables and tow strap. Hate having them on the floor in the back seat. I dont want one of the in bed boxes, I haul a slide in camper.

I was thinking of bolting a old .50 cal ammo can through existing holes. Any reason this would be a bad idea?

As long as you can access it when you need it most. Can you fit a set of jumper cables in the 50cal box? I've even thought about cutting off the bottom of my bed even with or just slightly above the top of the frame and putting the frame-mounted tool boxes that you see under flat beds in place. Not sure they would fit very well, but it was a thought. I know many years ago Ford made little boxes that were built into the bedsides on their trucks, and Nissan does it now. I wish Ford would so something similar again.
