Just drove truck to town @ 6 miles at speed of 35 mph to see if speed is an issue. You couold tell the truck is surging and acts a lot like a fuel issue. While in town I bought a new fuel filter and changed. Noted that all injectors are dry and schraeder valve and filter housing are dry and appear not to have leaks nor do any lines. Took truck for a test spin and after 2 miles slowed to turn around and truck died. Had to spin alot to crank again. Once again acted like fuel. When I returned I raced motor at somewhat accelerateed speed and after a short period the motor acted up with once again what I thoiught was fuel issues.

Thanks for all input

Buy an electric pump for that thing. Also, check to see if fuel pickup in tank is broken off. What is fuel level when it dies?

First thing we/you must consider is the fuel level in the tank selected.....like Okie states. Due to the fact the tank sender/pickups do break off......

I would think that any off roading, gravel road travel would accentuate this problem. So anytime the fuel is below 1/3 and you have a fuel/stalling problem switch to the tank with the most fuel in it ASAP.

Have recently read a TSB re power being supplied by the Engine temp switch to timing advance solenoid at incorrect times due to a bad ETSwitch. This is causing surging........

After that check the fuel lift pump pressure.....

Two or more dieseldotcom heads are better than One!!!!
Thanks for input guys. I think with yalls input I have the problem nailed. I simply switched tanks and the surging etc, cleared up. I switched back and forth four or five times to verify that the problem was based in the front fuel tank. Ordered sending unit from stealership and will post for installation advice soon. This truck still has some issues of too much smoke at times but I will leave that issue alone untill I can get time to wrestle with it.

Again thanks so much for help!!!!
