My extended wagon came with the Dana 70, but with the Dana 60 carrier. I had it swapped to the Dana 70 carrier (+4.56 gears and Limited slip). I using the Arrowcraft hubs so I can run duals. I have almost 240,000 miles, the last 115,000 of that with the dually conversion. I run up to 25,000 combined.

I'm switched back to SRW rotors I can run an 8" rim. The 6.5" dually rims are too narrow for a 265 tire.

The E350 cutaway DRW axles are a little narrower than the SRW axle + Arrowcraft hubs. But, the frames are the same, so it should fit, unless you have airbags. All of the fender you can buy (CoachCraft, TAW, etc) are the right width for arrowcrafts. The E450 axle will fit, but is wider so your tires would be out past those fenders a tad. Also, most E450s have a drive-line parking brake.

Are you running full synthetic?

Were you Towing with a 3.55 rear end?

You may want the 4.10 rear.

carringb.

your van looks like a workhorse, unreal outdoors vehicle.

I run full synthetics in my van, engine, rear end and I have the Sonnax Valve & trim Springs in the tranny, the Mag-Hytec Tranny pan holds much more fluid, my temps are always low. The Mag-Hytec rear end cover also holds more fluid, and the Amsoil Synth fluid helps the Limited Slip work great. Knock on wood, no problems yet.

Why do you want to change from a Dana 60?
What kind of symptoms are you having?
How do you know it's the rear end?
If you're on the third rear end, there's got to be something else going on.
The Dana 60 semi-float on our vans is a very good rear end. Yes, the full float is a little bit better but certainly not something I would pay a lot of money for. Yes the Power-Lok is a better than our Trac-Lok but not so much better that I would pay big bucks for it. Sure there are lots of lockers out there which have advantages of one kind or another but they also have disadvantages.
In the end, it depends on what you are going to do with your truck.
When my Trac-Lok went out, I did tons of research and finally decided to rebuild what I had. I spend most of my miles on the highway and don't tow all of the time. So, the choice wasn't too difficult.
When you walk in to the stealer and have the rear end worked on, you are talking big bucks. Unfortunately, much of the time, you are not getting the kind of technical talent that you are paying for.
Most of the grease monkeys can't read the manual from Dana well enough to know how to set up a rear end.
Any time you alter the relationship between the pinion and ring gear, it is critical that everything goes back together according to specs.
All too often, the customer is told "you need a new rear end" because the grease monkeys don't have the knowledge to fix the problem.

I swapped a Sterling 10.5" axle in my van when I did the 4x4 conversion. There was nothing wrong with the D60 semi floater. I just prefer a full float, without the c-clips.

If you have drum brakes, a 10.25 rear from a 1993-1997 F250 or F350 would be an upgrade. 1987-1992 are OK too, but some have issues due to a poor design with the yoke length, they can be upgraded, but it requires a new set of gears and yoke.
At a minimum it would require welding the spring pads for the different width.
Full-float axles, 12 x 3" drums, already has VSS sensor, same 8 on 6.5 bolt pattern.

The 99-04 Superduty 10.5 isn't too desireable only because of the different 8 on 170 mm bolt pattern. Other than that it is an excellent axle for more than a few reason including disc brakes. Although track width is an improvement over the stock van axle.

might be a dumb question but... the only way to switch from drum brakes to disc is to change the rear-end, correct?

... I hate my drum brakes....

I don't know the answer to your question, but I have a 3.55 disc brake rear in zip 60191 not too far from you if you are interested....
