Well, I'm a little embarrassed on asking about this.... but my 1999 ClubWagon seems to have a little 'tenant' that I wish to evict. What's getting me is, were in the name of Earth did it get in at?! (Trying a sticky trap right now and it showed up, leaving some droppings on the trap... but no mouse stuck to it....)

So, has anyone had a rodent problem in their van, car or truck? And where is the most likely hole that they area entering..... :icon_mad: (I've had my 1990 longer then this 1999 and the 1990 seems rodent free).

No cat.... my dogs would take care of it.

I'll have to dig up some of those 'old' snap traps. Actually, gotta find them.... those worked out for years....

But does anyone have an idea where it is getting in! I was thinking maybe the lines that go to the rear heating/AC unit (if they go through the floor... but I haven't had time to look. It is winter...)

I'm not sure if my 03' is the same with the floor layout. But I know that my rear passenger side by my jack mount has a hole about an inch round under my cargo liner. That may be a point of entry.....

Put a little used cat litter in some zip loc bags, leave the top open and place them in the interior.

Interesting.... sent of cat will make them think twice about going in. Well, as long as the dog won't scratch the paint trying to get in. Just a matter of getting some used cat liter now...

If it's cold enough and you park it outside, leave the windows open for a night. He'll freeze overnight and be gone.

Don't be too sure. I had a mouse stay alive in my van for a couple of weeks one winter.

I finally put some bait (a glob of peanut butter) on a trap in the sliding box under the passenger seat. Then I put sticky paper around the mousetrap.

Next day was curtains. I threw the mouse, trap, sticky paper, into the nearest garbage can at a rest stop.

That was in the winter of 2002-2003. No problems since then.

Here are two I copied from rv.net

Irish Spring bar soap, either entire bars or cut slivers or strips off.

A few drops of pepperment oil or Essential oil of peppermint.

Interesting. Kind of reminds me of the old sponge and bacon grease trick someone said to me to deal w/ 4 legged critters bothering their cattle....

Update to the issue:

I tried my old sticky trap, even put a small dab of cheese in the middle. The mouse ATE the cheese.... didn't even stick to the trap. And the trap was sticky (I tested a bit of it on my finger- and the extra gallon of washer fluid I keep in the back moved over to it too!)

I'm satisfied to say, that a mouse was caught using the old fashioned mechanical method. :sneaky: AKA- Victor mouse trap loaded w/ cheese. And it still ate the cheese from the sticky trap, again.... but I guess the snap trap got it. What surprised me was, the size of the thing! It was nearly the size of the Victor snap trap (the old wooden one!) Dang. I'm happy.

Trap has been reloaded.... just in case.

3rd one was caught today! :icon_mad::icon_mad::icon_mad:

I really have to see where they are getting into the body- as in the holes. Unless they got into the van when it was over a mechanic friend's places back in Nov!???

Anyone have any idea on where there are holes in the body? Being a passenger van, everything is covered by trim? Any one w/ a cargo van that can point me to the right direction on where to look.....

edit-
They tried to nest on the seat using the seat and a coat that was left! And it's only been a week since the van was used last till when I discovered the coat/seat issue!!!
