Vapor Lock

I have searched with no luck. Only after towing have I experienced this. After a long tow when coming to a complete stop the engine starts to lose power, as if it was being restricted until it kicks in again. When this happens the familiar cackle of the engine goes away and it feels like it wants to stahl but doesn't /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/shrug.gif. This is on Drive but if I put it on Park everything seems normal. I tow 8K lbs and on this last trip went for 400 miles roundtrip. I had just replaced the air filter thinking it was a breathing problem but it still did it after the long tow. While talking to a friend that distributes diesel engine parts, he told me it was Vapor Lock. Did not even stop to think of an answer. He says it has to do with the heat and how diesel vapors at certain temperatures causing this to happen. I have never heard of this. Can anyone shed some light on this? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif
