First off, I would like to say that I have NEVER been this dissapointed in a Ford vehicle in my life. I have an 08 F550 4x4 with a wrecker body on it. We have changed the oil every 4500-5500 miles (due to using it for towing), and we have done regular transmission services, and have changed the fuel filters.
I have done a search here on the site, and it could possibly be the "EGR Cooler? or even a problem with one of the cylinder heads. I'm going to explain it as good as I can, and see what you guys might think.

To start off, this truck was bought new in April of 08 and now has 58,??? miles on it. This truck has been in the dealership more than we have actually been able to use it.

*****Build Date 01/08*****

1st bad radiator was at 14,000 miles
2nd bad radiator was about 20,000 - 24,000 miles
3rd bad radiator was about 40,000 miles

After the last radiator was replaced we have had a HUGE problem with coolant going into the oil. We explained to the dealership about what was happening, and they stated they heard about the problem and were going to order a few parts and they would fix it. They told us to continue to add coolant and use the truck until the parts came in. About a week later we dropped off the truck for 3 days, and they said they they "pressure tested" everything but found no problems and just replaced the coolant tank and said it would be fine?! They didn't even drain the more than 6 gallons of oil/coolant out of the motor. My biggest question is... What would a bad coolant tank have to do with coolant getting into the oil??? If the tank was "bad" wouldn't it leak onto the ground instead? So last Sunday I drained all 6+ gallons out, changed the filter and filled in back up with 15 new quarts of oil. Just 5 days later the coolant level is down over 2 inches and the oil is way over full again. This dealership keeps telling us that there is no problem with it?? I'm taking the truck to a different dealer this week and see what they say about this issue. I'm mainly just trying to see if anyone has had the same issues with Ford and their dealerships??

I really appreciate any and all of your input

Is your oil gray in color? If you have coolant in the oil and you run the engine the oil and coolant/water will mix and turn gray. I can not believe any dealer would allow you to drive your truck in that kind of condition. If there really is water in the oil then the head gaskets would be the first place to look, the oil cooler is the second.

A bad coolant/recovery tank would not cause water intrusion into the engine.

Have you noticed any steam coming from your exhaust? Maybe your EGR cooler is bad? Keep in mind if you really do have coolant in the oil then it's not the cooler.

Yes, most dealers sucks.

The oil is black with gray clouds in it. Every once in a while it will blow out a little steam, and it seems like it's definately down on power.
BTW: I saved a sample of the oil, is there someplace that I can take it to be tested?

Yes, a great place to test it in IMHO, is blackstone laboratories. Here is the link:

I'm sure not trying to denigrate your concerns, but for a truck that's just 8 months old and has been out of service more than in service, with 58,000 miles on it, that means you must be putting over 500 miles per day when it is in use. That's a lot of miles!

We can put between 300 & 600 miles on it in a day, and others it's not used as much. I do understand that its alot of miles, but here is my concern:

We also have an 04 F450 with the 6.0L with well over 250,000 miles on it with NO major problems. And also an 06 F450 also with the 6.0L with well over 150,000 miles on it and also with NO major issues with this truck either. This is why I'm so frustrated with Ford, and their new "technology".

We do work our trucks hard but we always keep up on the maintenance, and haven't had these issues until the 08 came along.

I know of other companies in Chicago that have the 08's and already have over 120,000 miles with NO problems at all. It looks to me that there is a real "hit and miss" with these trucks.

You probably need a front cover. If I were them I would lift the cab, replace the engine oil cooler, all hoses, radiator, front cover, and water pump.

Could not agree with you more on the front cover. After 3 bad radiators which is known to caused severe cavitation in the cooling system, the front cover is now probably looking like swiss cheese...
