Hello Everyone,

This is my first post with you guys. I have been doing a lot of searching and have not been able to pinpoint an answer to my question. Hopefully I can find some help here from some of you more experienced individuals.

Problem at hand- while disassembling a friends Garrett gt3782va turbo which has been giving him lots of problems, I found that the Actuator Piston for the vanes is missing both of its oil seals. I have been looking all over online for either the seals or the complete piston assembly and have not been able to find anything.

Also with these seals missing, what effect would it have on the function on the unison ring?

And one last question, with a new quality Compressor wheel and Turbine wheel installed will the balance be way out of whack now?

Thank You

*Turbo has a Remanufactured sticker on it but Owner stated he has never had turbo serviced and has owned truck since new. Dealer has performed many other repairs on truck in the past though.

I know this is a old thread but to add my 2 cents. I just replaced my turbo at 200k I just decided to put a whole new unit on. I wasn’t honestly having any issues I just didn’t want to deal with them down the road. These turbos have come way down in price and if possible I would just suggest to replace the whole unit. I am sure some would disagree but it just made since for me to replace it entirely. I would suggest if you have a problem child do the same thing.
